Meet Your Editor

I'm Nevvie, a freelance book editor and proofreader specializing in fiction.

I work primarily with self-publishing authors writing romance, women's fiction, fantasy, thriller, suspense, mystery, YA, and other fiction genres.

My editing style is collaborative, constructive, and detail-oriented. I'll tell you what I think isn't working, but I'll also explain why. And I'll always respect that the final decision belongs to you.

Because at the end of the editing process, it should still feel like your book. Just a stronger version of it.

How I ended up editing books

For almost a decade, I worked in digital marketing. I had a secure career, a good job, and absolutely no plans to become a freelance book editor.

Then I realized I wanted something different.

Books had always been a huge part of my life. As a child, they were my way of travelling when travelling wasn't possible. I discovered New Zealand through The Thorn Birds, experienced Japan through Murakami, and wandered through the ballrooms of the American South through Gone with the Wind.

Eventually, my love of books—and a need to make a major change in my life—led me toward publishing.

I took a certified book editing course and continued developing my skills through additional editing, proofreading, and creative-writing training.

Six years later, I've had the privilege of working with authors whose books have won awards, become bestsellers, and—perhaps most importantly—become stories they're proud to put into the world.

That's what keeps me here.

I love books. I love the people who write them. And I love being the person who helps a story become the best version of itself.
